Lykke Li's The Afterparty is many things at once. It is reportedly her last album, it is by her own account her darkest and most intense album, with "apocalyptic bongos" and a seventeen-piece orchestra, but it is also her most poppy album since Li's first album, Youth Novels (2008). At twenty-five minutes, it is a short but rather powerful farewell.
