Buck Meek - The Mirror (CD)
You can set your watch by it: once Big Thief has released a new album, it's time for another series of solo releases. The guitarist with Buck Meek is at least as prolific as frontwoman Adrianne Lenker: The Mirror is already his fourth solo album. That unique, quintessential Texas country twang, normally only heard occasionally in the background, is given full rein here, as is his melodious, swaggering guitar playing. It won't feel particularly unfamiliar: Lenker occasionally sings along, and Big Thief drummer James Krivchenia produced the album. Ambient musicians Alex Somers and Mary Lattimore also make appearances.
