A live performance by The Haunted Youth is an overwhelming experience, as we've known since their debut Dawn of the Freak (2022). The Flemish band took their time to capture that intensity on their second album - and they succeeded. On Boys Cry Too, the shoegaze sound is more patient – just listen to the three-minute build-up before the opening track 'in my head' erupts – but certainly no less intense. They've clearly listened more to My Bloody Valentine, although The Haunted Youth remains undeniably more pleasant to listen to.
