Texas gothic folk troubadour Bill Callahan has been cruising along beautifully these past few years, but anyone who's known him since his Smog days knows that the darkness always eats away at his ankles. With My Days of 58, he seems to be bracing himself for his sixtieth birthday. The album sounds darker than its immediate predecessors. He's joined by a suitably grim band, the same one he's toured with in recent years.
